Free Oral History Training at Glenside Hospital Museum

Tuesday 20th March
Learn how to record memories and sounds for future generations.
     10am – 3pm at Glenside Hospital Museum
Listening to somebody talk about their experience is an easy way to understand & learn about the past.    
Discover and discuss: how to researching and recording people’s memories  will include
interviewing techniques - digital recorders – archiving- transcribing – copyright – how to use the sound in exhibitions and online.
Training will be led by Mary Ingoldby, MA Creative Practice for Narrative Environments.        
Mary is an experienced Oral Historian who has worked on many community and cultural projects as well as running a sound archive. She has worked with sound and personal testimony in museums, galleries, installations, films and online. Recent projects include:
  • The Bristol Bus Boycott 1963, collecting interviews and material.
  • Southmead and Frenchay Hospitals ,The Staff Portrait Project: interviewing a wide range of staff about their role in the NHS.
  • Soundscapes for the National Trust and English Heritage.
